One person died while several others were injured in a multiple-vehicle accident early morning yesterday, Nov.11, 2023, along Pope John Paul II Avenue, Brgy. Mabolo, Cebu City.

In the report of the Mabolo Police Station 4, a Korean national, Jaehyun Lee, was driving his SUV when he first hit a car near a gas station.

The driver of the car tried to stop Lee, but the Korean national reportedly sped off, hitting a motorcycle driven by Jomarie DacalDacal Bernas.

Bernas was dragged a few meters on the road with his motorcycle, and was killed instantaneously.

Instead of stopping, the Korean national continued to drive and rammed into a sedan driven by Erwin Leonardo Conson.

After hitting the sedan, the Korean continued to maneuver the vehicle and hit three people on board their mountain bikes before he crashed into the wooden post of an electric company and his car keeling over. The mountain bikers were brought to the hospital due to injuries.

The police believe that the Korean National had been drinking.

As of press time, police have not spoken to the Korean since he was still in the hospital suffering severe injuries and was still unconscious. -
